Celebrating Over 30 Years of Latin Rock in Los Angeles
In October 2025, history was made when the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors—led by Supervisor Janice Hahn—officially proclaimed October 14th as Rock en Español Day in Los Angeles County. The motion was inspired by a community-driven effort that began right here at Roxanne’s in Long Beach, thanks to the passion and persistence of Robert Molina and the dedicated group Angelinos Rockeros.
As proud hosts of this landmark celebration, Roxanne’s is honored to have played a key role in helping make Rock en Español Day a recognized part of L.A. County’s cultural calendar. What began as an idea shared among local fans has grown into a movement—one that honors decades of Spanish-language rock and the vibrant Latino identity that helped shape the sound of Southern California.
A County-Wide Celebration Rooted in Long Beach
On Sunday, October 19th, 2025, Roxanne’s will once again host Rock en Español: Celebrating 30+ Years of Latin Rock in Los Angeles, a free community event that brings together music, art, and cultural history under one roof.
From 12 PM to 6 PM, guests will experience the full spectrum of Latin rock energy—from the classic hits of Caifanes, Soda Stereo, Maná, and Los Prisioneros to the voices of today’s emerging Rock Angelino artists. Our outdoor and indoor spaces come alive with DJ sets, live performances, art installations, and a curated exhibition highlighting the roots and evolution of the movement.
At 4 PM, we’ll host a special Forum & Q&A inside The Exhibition Room, exploring The History of Rock en Español in Los Angeles—a deep dive into how this music shaped identity, unity, and expression within L.A.’s Latino communities.
More Than Music: A Legacy of Culture and Connection
Rock en Español isn’t just a genre—it’s a story of resilience, creativity, and cultural pride. It’s the soundtrack of generations of Angelinos who found their voice through rhythm, poetry, and rebellion. From garage bands in East L.A. to festival stages across the world, this music has carried the soul of the Latino experience and inspired countless artists to keep the movement alive.
By establishing this annual Rock en Español Day celebration, Roxanne’s aims to keep that legacy thriving for future generations. Every year, we’ll continue to host this event as a space for artists, fans, and families to come together—honoring our shared heritage through the power of live music and community storytelling.
